Job Roles in ECE Community

The first international organization of practice that appealed to me was UNICEF because; they help children all over the world through supporting them with health, education, and safety. Their mission statement is, “UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children's lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. And we never give up.” (2019). This statement is so important and meaningful being that, they want to not only help children become successful in their education, but to also thrive in all aspects of their lives. When I did some research on their website, I found many job listings and positions available, and each one was more challenging than the other. Being so, they all focused on different parts of the world and the specific needs that they need help in. The job opportunity that interested me through UNICEF was, chief education P5, the job entails, “the development, design, planning, implementation and management of the Education program within the country” of Africa, Niger (2019). This job would give me the opportunity to create a high quality program for educators to teach children so that they can learn well-put together lessons. The skills I would need is, time management, organization. Most importantly, I would need to know how to work with groups successfully so that I can lean from my teammates, and learn new ideas from them that would be great to teach in the classroom.

The second international organization that appealed to me was UNESCO: United Nations, Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (2019). Their mission is to, “build peace in the minds of men and women” (2019). What I really loved from their vision statement was, “peace must be built upon the intellectual and moral solidarity of humanity” (2019).  This means that creating a peaceful environment for children, men, and women, is key for living a life of success. A job opportunity with UNESCO would be being an advocate and being vocal in ones community. Once you become a member of this organization, there are more career opportunities available. Then one would go through training and different types of schooling/testing to make sure one is qualified to be a part of this organization.

The third international organization that appealed to me was Save the Children (2019). This organization helps to deliver quality education to children around the world. This organization, works with several different organizations so that they can ensure all different kinds of opportunities for children. This organization also helps children in the United States. There are different kinds of ways to be a participant of this organization. As a professional educator, one can be a skilled volunteer. In using ones professional skills and experience, volunteers work to promote programs in schools so that they can protect children and educate them as much as they can.

  1. Hi Angela,

I really enjoyed reading your blog, being in a member of great organization and then on top of that having a job within that company makes it worth wild. I can only imagine how in a days time you would want to help as many children as possible and you get to see the results of how you have helped them, that is just awesome. We as educators must always remeber our value as we help children develop and grow into strong individuals.
